Chicago Community Trust

PROJECT DETAILS

Since its founding in 1915, The Chicago Community Trust has connected the generosity of donors with community needs by making grants to organizations working to improve metropolitan Chicago. When the time came for CCT to relocate to a new facility, they engaged Partners to assist with the transition. They wanted a space that was a reflection of their organization: Classic, Warm, Inviting and Accessible. They needed a space that could accommodate and impress the large number of donors and guests who visit and utilize the offices and meeting rooms on a regular basis.

The need for as many conference rooms as possible was complicated by the need for a large event space. Partners’ solution was to create a conference center with movable glass fronts that could open into a large event space for speakers, presentations, seminars, and evening functions or could be configured into a number of smaller, private meeting rooms.

Because CCT focuses on Chicago area neighborhoods, Partners envisioned a city-grid concept for the design. This concept is utilized in subtle ways throughout the space: a city-grid branding element behind reception, department organized into “neighborhoods” and a carpet pattern that reflects the city-grid concept.

Additional touches that Partners provided to create an environment that met CCT’s goals:

  • An easily-updatable, custom-made donor wall prominently displayed in reception
  • A large-scale interactive media screen to educate existing donors and visitors about the Trust’s work
  • Comfortable donor lounge where guests can hold informal meetings and use the space’s fully integrated technology center
  • Warm tones used throughout: wood ceiling, warm yellow lights in the lunchroom, warm wood mill work
