NORC

PROJECT DETAILS
Smart Design for a Smart Company

NORC (National Opinion Research Center), a nonprofit research firm affiliated with the University of Chicago, provides objective information serving the public interest. Combining state-of-the-art technology with high-quality social science research, NORC is an innovative think-tank that helps solve global issues. When NORC decided to merge its five disparate spaces into one downtown Chicago location, at 55 East Monroe, the firm chose Partners by Design for smart design consultation.

Amplifying NORC’s Valuable Brand

Partners rose to the task with design solutions that conveyed both NORC’s own values and its important affiliation with the University of Chicago. Included in the new space are:

  • Textured limestone and historical architectural patterns that harken back to the stately architecture of older-generation campus buildings
  • Generous use of glass allowing natural light to infiltrate the office space
  • Finishes that convey understated, timeless elegance

The contemporary space feels well-grounded and intelligent. It’s a fitting solution for a firm dedicated to reliable research supporting informed decision making. The connection between NORC and the University of Chicago are integrated seamlessly in this impressive space.

Another Project for NORC

Partners by Design implemented the same design concepts for NORC on the University of Chicago Campus in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. This 30,000-square-foot project incorporated similar workstations and many sustainable resources, including reclaimed wood accents; and an office circulation plan that supports a highly collaborative work environment.
