Elevating Nashville’s Skyline: Partners by Design Creates a Wellness-Focused Interior at 5 City Blvd

Nashville’s West Side has a new architectural landmark, and Partners by Design played a pivotal role in bringing its interior vision to life. The recently completed 5 City Blvd—a striking 15-story office tower in the OneC1ty mixed-use development—rethinks what a workplace can be when wellness and flexibility shape the design from the ground up.

A Building That Stands Out
Designed by Chicago-based Goettsch Partners for developer Convexity Properties, 5 City Blvd is now the tallest structure in the OneC1ty district. The 15-story, 239-foot tower totals 730,000 square feet, including 360,000 square feet of premier office space, 17,000 square feet of ground-level retail, and a multilevel parking structure with more than 950 stalls. Its distinctive curved eastern façade with stepped terraces appears to “peel away” from the building, creating dramatic outdoor spaces with sweeping views of the Nashville skyline. But while the exterior captures attention with its sculptural presence, it’s the interior amenity spaces where Partners by Design’s work makes the biggest impact.

Crafting a Cohesive Wellness Environment
Partners by Design designed the building’s lobby and expansive amenity suite to serve multiple functions while maintaining a unified, welcoming aesthetic. The space needed to work for different types of tenants with varying needs, all while reflecting Nashville’s evolving commercial market.
The resulting design includes a comprehensive suite of amenities that go beyond typical workplace expectations:
- State-of-the-art fitness center that encourages tenant wellness
- Coffee bar and pantry offering grab-and-go convenience
- Private phone rooms for focused work and confidential calls
- Flexible lounges that support both collaboration and relaxation
- Divisible training spaces flooded with natural light, designed to accommodate everything from team meetings to company-wide events

Design Details That Make a Difference
What sets Partners by Design’s work apart is the attention to cohesion and identity throughout the building. The lobby sets the tone immediately—distinctive brass inlays of the 5CB logo in the elevator lobbies and a matching installation behind the reception area create a sense of arrival and establish the building’s visual language. Throughout the amenity spaces, warm finishes and layered materials add texture and depth, while abundant daylight brings vibrancy to every corner.

The material palette reflects careful consideration of Nashville’s character while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic. Warm finishes and layered materials create texture and depth, while abundant daylight brings vibrancy to every corner. The design avoids the sterile feel of typical office buildings, instead creating spaces that feel inviting and energizing.

A Testament to Collaboration
The success of 5 City Blvd represents a true collaborative effort between architect, developer, and interior designer. While Goettsch Partners created the striking architectural envelope, Partners by Design ensured that the interior spaces lived up to the building’s promise. The result is a cohesive design that works seamlessly from the outside in—a building that not only enhances Nashville’s skyline but also elevates the daily experience of everyone who works there.

As Nashville continues growing as a major commercial hub, projects like 5 City Blvd show how thoughtful interior design can set a building apart. Partners by Design’s work here demonstrates the firm’s ability to create spaces that work hard while still feeling inspired—workplaces built for the work of today and the decade ahead.
