The NBC Tower renovation consolidated four fragmented floors into a single, unified 70,000 SF facility for NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago. Working alongside Design Republic and Clune Construction, PBD contributed architectural services to this  reimagining of how a modern newsroom looks, feels, and functions.

The open, industrial design draws inspiration from 30 Rock, replacing siloed offices with a shoot-anywhere environment anchored by a 40×60-foot LED wall and 20+ camera-ready locations distributed across the floor. Five new broadcast studios, two podcast suites, and a cloud-based production platform give teams the infrastructure to serve audiences across broadcast, streaming, and social — simultaneously.

Sustainability was central to the scope: the project achieved LEED Gold certification, reducing water usage by 30% and cutting energy costs by nearly 10%. Informal collaboration zones, a game room, and a hidden speakeasy round out a workplace designed for the full human experience.
